1. Rationale

I've made good progress as a creative thinker and as an amateur filmmaker. I've gained industry standard knowledge on the production of media, which has been extremely interesting. I never knew how much work and effort is put into bringing an idea on the screen. Each individual scene takes a lot of planning, writing the script, hiring the staff and actors, preparing the equipment, wisely choosing the location, the logistics, the actual production, foley sound and the editing. These are only a few of the many steps a team or company takes within the whole production process. Each step requires extensive knowledge and is usually handled by a specialist person. I found my favourite part of media production through this course, which is Post Production. This specific field is still massive and I'm still not sure if I want to focus on editing, cgi or colour grading but that

will come with time.

2. Project concept

Within the next 8 weeks I will create a short film with a 4-8 min duration with a poster that will promote the short film. I will spend the first two weeks developing several ideas I have and conduct primary and secondary research and determine which idea is the most achievable and also best for this FMP. Once I have an idea that I'm happy to go with and one that is realistically achievable, I will conduct more specific primary and secondary research in order to identify my exact target audience, research the genre and find out about certain filming techniques that might be trending in the genre. During the 4th to 5th week I will finalize the pre-production process with shot lists, location reports etc. which is something I will try and do flawlessly as pre-production has been an identified weakness of mine which has resulted in some failed projects. I will then produce the film to the highest end I possibly can, with good lighting, properly focused and stable shots and most importantly: good sound quality. I will put my experience of editing to the best use during the post- production. I will then showcase my project to the class come June 8th.

3. Evaluation

I will thoroughly document my progression throughout the project so I can measure my development for my final evaluation. I will then compare the outcome of this final major project to my last final major project from last year and identify my improvements and areas I need to work on. This comparison will give me good insight into my progression not only throughout these final weeks during the fmp but for the whole year. I will closely look at the timeline of events that occurred during the entire production process so I can see where I made mistakes or where I made good decisions, which will help guide me in the future. I will also survey people's opinion of the outcome and consider their compliments and criticisms. I will look at my film objectively so I can learn as much as possible.
