After having a vague idea that had many uncertainties I decided to change my final major project idea to an idea I have had for a while. It's theme is lucid dreaming and is a psychological thriller. The film will follow a character called Eric who notices that he doesn't have his wallet as he's trying to top up his oyster before getting on a bus. The film then jumps to him going to bed. Midway through his sleep he enters a state of lucid dreaming which starts with him seeing random things till he is spawns at the station he tried to top up. He is unaware that he's dreaming and is confused as to how he's ended up there. A mysterious person with their hood up then bumps into Eric and pickpockets his wallet. Eric who is keen to get his wallet back starts chasing the mysterious hooded person who keeps ignoring Eric calling for him to come back. As he approaches the hooded person closer he gets teleported to a random pond in a forest in the middle of nowhere. He then sees the hooded person walk past him and the pursuit is back on. The closer he approaches the hooded person the more intense the dream gets (which Eric is still unaware about). Eric almost gets hit by a tram but is able to teleport out of the situation using his will. He now learnt that he's in a dream and starts using the dream world to his advantage to track down the thief. He finally tracks down the thief in a carpark. After getting intense hallucinations, Eric finally gets to the the hooded person who turns around, revealing himself to be another version of Eric and says that Eric should keep the wallet. Eric wakes up from his dream and notices his lost wallet on the bedside table.

I sat down with my tutor to try and come up with names and these were the 3 that I thought were the most appropriate. DreamWorld in my opinion comes across as a little basic and something you would find in Thorpe park. I liked the name Inter Realm the most and my survey backed up my choice to use this title.

Target Audience:

Primary target audience:

Gender: Male

It will be mostly men that will be interested in this film as secondary research has suggested that the main demographic for psychological thrillers are men.

Age: 13-24

In a survey that I conducted I found that the majority of people that stated their interested in watching a psychological thriller about lucid dreaming were between the age of 13-24.

Occupation: Student or in pursuit of a career in media

An amateur filmmaker or someone taking a media GCSE or college course is likely to look at other short films to gain ideas and inspiration from it.

Psychographics: 12 monkeys, Inception, Enter The Void

Geodemographics: Cities of the UK

The film doesn't purposely target people from the city but since this film has some philosophical themes to it, it makes sense targeting an urban demographic as most people that study or have a profession for philosophy, live in an urban setting.

Class: Middle Class- Upper Class

Middle class to upper class men are more likely to be pondering their existence than lower class men, which raises their interest to see this film.

Secondary target audience:

Gender: Male

Age: 25-50

Occupation: Professionally working in the media industry and looking for new talent and young directors they could potentially hire.

Psychographics: Christoper Nolan Movies

Geodemographics: The media industry is centered in cities

Class: Middle Class- Upper Class
