I thought of a few concepts for my short film about representation. I want to make this project a deep and insightful film about issues that are currently plaguing our society like homelessness, racism and discrimination.

Idea 1: I met a homeless person outside of college on Tuesday and I was moved by his story. He told me that he currently attends the college and studies music production so he can produce for a friend that's an upcoming musician. He sees this as his last opportunity to make it out of the situation he's currently in.

Idea 2: I would consider myself quite a political person so I would be very pleased with myself if I created a short film with a political narrative. Reports show that discrimination against minorities have risen by a substantial amount since the Brexit vote and I personally know people that have been effected by it. One of my Bulgarian friends was told to go back to his own country on the bus last week which inspires this idea. A short film about 2 Bulgarian people being harassed and told to go back to their country. One of the Bulgarians tells the bigoted person how he feels British and he shows her the poppy he's wearing. Meanwhile, a thief snuck up behind the bigoted person and steals his/her handbag and the Bulgarians come to the rescue and return it to the owner who previously harassed them. They then say have a nice day and walk away with a shot directed at the bigot with a face of shock which symbolizes her realization that foreigners can also be good people.

The Eastern Europeans will be wearing working clothes with paint on it symbolizing the conception that Eastern Europeans mostly work in hard labour. The bigoted person will be reading the Sun news paper which is often the go to newspaper for close minded people with little education. I was also thinking that I should give the bigoted person a buggy incase I get a female actress to play the role because young single mums are stereotypically racist.

This idea is inspired by this short film that has a very similar narrative.

Idea 3: I moved to the UK a year ago but I feel fully British (I was born in London and raised by an English/Barbadian father). When I lived in Switzerland for 12 years I never felt accepted by society there and I never really mixed or associated myself with the Swiss so I am interested to find out how people of foreign descent find the challenge of integrating into a society of their own and ask them if they uphold British values. I will interview people from my college and outside of my college
