On Thursday we were tasked to create a short film using different shots. The criteria was that all the shots need to be still and that every shot type that was used must be used 3 times. Emma suggested several simple storylines for us to choose from. I went with the simple ''listening to music'' narrative. My initial idea was that the character in the film would be walking to the park without music and then finally putting her headphones on and wander around the park.
I wanted to tell what a difference it makes, having headphones and music to relax yourself on camera, so I made the part without music seem bleak by lowering the saturation level and then adding more colour and light leak effects.
I knew that had to make improvements with the camera. I noticed some errors that I made this time. There was to much blue tint , I should've adjusted the iso and filters appropriately to avoid this.
On Friday we learned about foley sound which is a process during the production in which foley artists record sound that wasn't recorded on set (punches, footsteps etc.). We were then tasked with making our own sound effects using a bottle of water, a rubber band, newspaper and a sheet of sandpaper. We noticed that it's quite challenging but we enjoyed it and were able to make some good sound effects with the given tools. We were then sent outside to record foley sounds for our short films but weren't able to because of the wind conditions outside. We then tried to record the sounds inside but there was a lot of echoing in the recordings as expected. Next week we will have another session for us to improve on what we did today.
